The challenge

How might we design a care program that actually works for Medicaid-enrolled children with obesity and their families — without shame, and within the realities of Medicaid economics?

My role

Relationship lead and healthcare strategy guide, bridging IDEO.org and IDEO.com into a single team.

The work

Ethnographic research across San Francisco and Dallas grounded a Theory of Change built on three opportunity areas: awareness, confidence, and capacity. The team generated ten user-centered design concepts and published the work as a public-benefit case study.

The impact

A Phase 2 engagement was secured, and the work earned recognition in kyu’s Best of 2024 creative excellence awards.
